All About Bohemian Fashion Style

Boho and Bohemian are common terms you must have come across at least once in your lifetime. Bohemianism is a lifestyle of like-minded people who involve themselves in art, spiritual or literary pursuits. People in this group choose to stay adventurous and free-minded, away from politics and the daily hustle of life. Europe and America had many Bohemian people who then traveled worldwide to spread knowledge of the Bohemian culture.

These people follow a certain lifestyle and fashion style as well. The fashion sense of Bohemian people is non-conformist and eccentric. Many people who were not a part of this culture began to follow the bohemian fashion style, and thus it became popular.

Bohemian style is minimal yet colorful and raw. Today, this fashion style is called boho fashion. Boho fashion became popular in the 1960s and 70s. Boho fashion could be defined as an unstructured, eye-catchy style that includes wearing an oversized outfit in vibrant colors and simple footwear with other accessories that go with the style. Boho fashion is so popular that many celebrities have adopted it, like Sienna Miller, Kate Moss, Vanessa Hudgens, and Emily Ratajkowski.

How to Look Boho?

There are some important elements and a sense of style that you should know before getting into the bohemian fashion trend. Here are some key tips when creating a bohemian style for yourself.

1. Perfection is NOT the key to creating a boho look. It's about letting yourself be as you are and letting the outfit reflect your personality. Create a gypsy look with all that you have. Boho fashion includes more prints in the outfit and is not tight-fitted. You can wear a bralette with a camisole that is a size larger and layer it up with some junk jewellery.

2. Sleeveless maxi dresses so you get the boho feel. Aim for a cool tribal look with a casual touch. Maxi dresses with traditional prints are perfect for creating a boho style. If you are uncomfortable with dresses, you can wear oversized shirts and tunic tops. A denim jacket and baggy pants, and leather accessories work.

3. Sustainability is the key. Bohemian fashion and culture is not towards fast fashion or living a luxurious lifestyle. They find a way to live a suitable life, which is their culture's beauty. Re-use and recycle as well. You can avoid fast fashion and create a style statement by thrift shopping and purchasing outfits secondhand. Go to the local market and look for classy, vintage pieces.

4. Go for cotton, bamboo, linen, jute, and hemp materials that are not harmful to the environment. You can avoid outfits made of toxic dyes and opt for natural dyes made from natural elements.

5. The accessory is the key. To highlight your boho style, you need accessories from top to bottom. There are many types of boho accessories made of different metals or materials. Depending on your comfort, you can choose to wear jewellery made of natural material like cloth, shell, or bamboo, or even go with some attractive gemstone jewellery. Other accessories like belts, sunglasses, and traditional footwear are perfect for creating a bohemian look.

Remember that you need not be minimal but natural when you create a bohemian look. Embrace your personality and enjoy the hippie style of fashion.
